What does garage software cost?

What you pay for garage or workshop software: subscriptions, seats, VAT, trials — and what Motivox costs (ZZP €35, Garage €80 excl. VAT).

Shops leaving Excel or Access behind usually ask first: what does garage software cost? The answer is rarely one number. You pay for seats, modules, and often a yearly lock-in — or a clear monthly SaaS plan.

What the price is made of

Do not compare only the “from” rate. Check:

  1. What is included — intake, inspection, quote, work order, hours, invoice, customer portal
  2. Seats — office vs technician; cost of an extra account
  3. VAT — prices are often excl. VAT; invoices must fit your bookkeeping
  4. Trial — self-serve start vs mandatory demo call
  5. Cancellation — month-to-month or annual commitment

Add-on modules (inventory, brand integrations, multi-site) can double the monthly bill. Ask what you do not need.

Indicative ranges

Without naming competitors: solo or ZZP-style packages often sit in the tens of euros per month. Multi-user workshop software climbs once you need several technicians and office roles. Enterprise or dealer suites go higher.

More important than the range: whether the job chain is end-to-end. Cheap point tools (invoicing only, or planning only) cost more later through retyping.

What Motivox costs

Motivox (Innovolabs B.V.) publishes fixed monthly prices excl. VAT, billed via Stripe:

  • 30-day trial after sign-up — no mandatory demo call
  • ZZP €35/month — 1 back office + 1 technician
  • Garage €80/month — 3 back office + 5 technicians (most popular)
  • Extra seats €4/month per account
  • Garage group (unlimited): on request

Billing is cancel-anytime via the Stripe customer portal in Motivox. Stripe Tax adds VAT; you get a Dutch VAT invoice. Online payment by your customers is optional via Mollie or Tikkie — separate from the Motivox subscription.

Current details: pricing.

Trial vs demo

A trial where you test your own data and workflows says more than a sales demo. Motivox starts with registration and onboarding (company details, rates, logo). You see whether the chain — inspection → approval → floor → invoice — fits before you pay.

Checklist before you sign

  • Does the price match active technicians and office users?
  • Are product updates included without a forced “enterprise” jump?
  • Can you cancel monthly without a penalty?
  • Is each shop’s data isolated (multi-tenant)?
  • Does it work in the browser in the office and on a tablet on the floor?

Short answer

Garage software typically costs tens to hundreds of euros per month, depending on seats and depth. Motivox: €35 (ZZP) or €80 (Garage) excl. VAT, plus optional seats at €4 — with a 30-day trial. Next: features or sign up.
